The Dumbing Down of our kids

Teach Your Children ( Crosby, Stills and Nash ) You, who are on the road, Must have a code that you can live by. And so, become yourself, Because the past is just a good bye. Teach your children well, Their father's hell did slowly go by. And feed them on your dreams, The one they picks, the one you'll know by.

This morning I was out doing an early morning 10 k on my bike and the location I took had students-all age groups boarding a bus for school I watched as this arm came , like a guard rail, to block anyone from walking across in front of the bus. I asked my husband, the all-knowing of things such as these and he says it is to keep the kids from running out in front of the bus when it is moving. Lord!! We are teaching our kids to be unconcious. We put a guard up with a red light on it and tell them no to go until the light turns green. Not that they could get run over and that the bus driver has the right of way . He is travelling up the road! I wonder if they will put one on the back and center wheels just in case they try to crawl under to make it across before the bus squashes their little bodies. When I was growing and my not so old kids, were growing up, you couldn't get a kid to go out in front of a moving bus if you paid them. They knew the consequences. Critical thinking and teaching this to kids has gone right down the drain. we can't protect them from everything all the time. Why not teach them that if they do it, they suffer consequences. We are raising an unconcious generation who will always think it is somebody else's fault if they fail. Teach your children well!!
