A winter kinda day

It's just that kinda day outside. Looks like summer but the trees are standing dark and bare. The sun is looking like a ripe tangerine negligee as it hangs around the horizon. Days are getting meaner, now with dark starting to fall from the sky at mid-afternoon. Almost time for the winter solistice when the days will be shorter until March and then light will reign for awhile. Time to address Christmas cards but I was kind of waiting for a little snow to put the mood in there. Meanwhile as I recover from surgery, I put another log on the fire and settle back in the chair with my book and kitten playing with almost anything that moves, and watch as the earth goes into it's hibernation to heal and get ready for a new year. Great time to recuperate from surgery as I watch the world do the same with the seasons.
