WARNING! .....!I'VE BEEN THINKING

Been reading and thinking. On United Online the clergy and members are talking about the unfair practices against staff of the UCC, and with Armprior trying to solve the problem...Hoooo! I can see a union coming. Apparently the word union is not very acceptable in this case so we will call it by some other name but try to keep it ringing true. Years ago, when I was a new Grad, things were great without a union but then things were not so great as folks in the workplace began to realize they had rights too and their employer was just as accountable for being sensitive to those rights as the workers to fullfill their contract each day. A hierachy existed- imposed by those who held lives and jobs in their hands. In 1973 we formed collective bargaining and made a bit of headway but the Labor laws were just barely followed and who dared to question the "heirachy"? Today it is fully unionized-much different. Each person is involved in their rights. As a matter of fact, you have to be very aware what your rights are as your coworkers. Sometimes "do unto others is not easy in the world of human jealousy, competition, and "do it to him/her before they do it to me" becomes the practice of the day. Then a third party, idependent of the issues at hand and nothing to gain for their ego, have to step in. It works, People if it is done right. it is just, fair pay for work, human rights not just inforced, but one is made to become aware of those rights. We are now able to get on with the work we are meant to do without trying to fight through pettiness each day! The UCC believes in justice, fair trade, fair pay for workers, and do unto others, as well. Why does a union sounds so terrible. When it works if you stay with it? Could it be pride, fear of lack of autonomy? That is for uneducated people? I think not, some of the most educated and compassionate folks I know are unionized. Mabe we should change the terminology to " A circle of covenant? there- it sounds better already. Let's go! :) The workers try to hard in the UCC to help others liberate themselves. How can the opressed show others how to be liberated until they have found the way out themselves? I said "thinking is dangerous". Comments please......
